KIM GILLESPIE ART

If you’ve stopped by The Remedy in the last few years you are familiar with our beautiful, tropical, marine life artwork on display inside and outside the store, but do you know the artist, Kim Gillespie?

Kim is a snowbird who splits her time between Texas & St. Croix. While in Texas, she captures the true meaning of country living including cowboys, horses and cattle. However, during her time on St. Croix, her focus shifts to the beautiful Caribbean Sea and all of it’s creatures. She draws much of her inspiration from her time scuba diving and exploring this beautiful island. She uses acrylic paint that is sealed on cleaned, insect free reclaimed wood such as pallets that she sources herself to create her masterpieces. You would never expect that her love for painting only started back in 2021! Kim loves the joy her pieces bring to her client’s faces.

While she off island for the summer, Kim’s stunning pieces shown below are featured at The Remedy for pick up during normal business hours.

You can check out Kim’s Facebook page here.

Did you know she also does custom pieces? You can reach out to her at kimgiltex@yahoo.com to discuss having your dream painting become a reality when she lands back on St. Croix after hurricane season. Below is one of the numerous commission pieces she has completed to make islanders’ houses really feel like homes. This one in particular was inspired by a highly circulated video on Facebook of the first documented sighting and swim with three killer whales here in St. Croix. Ryan Higby, the daredevil who swam with these majestic creatures, was painted in when his fiancé purchased this piece as their engagement present.

To view Kim’s art, swing by The Remedy located in downtown Christiansted off Strand St. in the Caravelle Arcade off the Caravelle Hotel & Casino building. We are located right behind Molly’s and 3 doors down from the old Dashi Sushi restaurant. We are open 7 days a week, Monday & Tuesday 10am-5pm, Wednesday-Saturday 10am-6pm, and Sunday 11am-3pm. As all of her paintings are only displayed by The Remedy, these pieces are cash only. The Remedy does have an ATM for your convenience, if needed.
